Funny Memory ( Monday of Dead week, 2011)
When you want a good memory or just to have a story to tell, all you need to do is move to a small town. So here is a funny memory of my quirky little town that I think is worth sharing.
My roommate and I are hermits, we go nowhere and only see eachother on a regular basis, we have friends but when we want to do something besides homework we need at least two days notice so that we can plan accordingly for homework purposes, so it’s for these reasons that we rarely go outside our walls of living space. But Dead week of 2011 was one of our least busiest weeks of the semester, so we decided that we wanted to go to the nearest Amigos on Monday of dead week to get tacos, because they were having a good deal for taccos. So we planned for a few days on heading to get our taccos, we set out on our journey at 9pm after all our daily commitments were over, as we drive to amigos we see one car, one car! Talk about fishy! This is about a 15 mile drive! So we get to the grocery story at 9:45pm because we needed to get some groceries quick, but we knew this might be a problem since there were only two cars in the parking lot. Well both the grocery stores in town were closed (we find this out after standing in front of the doors and not having them open).
So we go to Amigos, and we see the dark menu board, so I jump out of the car to look at the times and I see the dimmed lights in the lobby and only one girl mopping up the floors, I read that they closed at 10, so I jump back in the car and look at the time, as it reads 9:54 I feel baffled, we both look up at sonic across the street and my roommate asks “should we go to Sonic?” We look up to decided and watch as the whole parking lot of Sonic shuts down dark at 9:55.
So we pull over in a random parking lot to look up the time because we had thought they closed at 11pm instead of 10pm, and all we see is one man walk out of the motel and stand there smoking, and watching us. So we pull out of the parking lot and drive back through the dark, snowy lonely town. We saw two cars the whole way….and the next day we woke up to sunlight and people smiling, so I don’t think anyone was in hiding or underground or in another dimension…just a quiet night i guess?
